After a few weeks of upheaval I’ve begun to feel like I’ve lost my exercise MOJO and have been thinking about how to get it back. The lack of enthusiasm is a killer, and really tough to overcome, but I really want to get back in my groove!
So what will I do?
First of all I have to take time to think, to recognise what I want and why, but more importantly what it means to me. What and why are easy, but the motivating factor is what it means to to us to make the changes. How will the end result make you feel? In my case getting myself training again, makes me feel good, it helps me to be healthy and that makes me feel amazing and confident. It also helps me to cope with the ups and downs life throws at us all, and that feels empowered. SO getting myself back into my training makes me feel good, healthy, confident, amazing and empowered. I really want that! So every effort I make to attend a session is a step towards feeling great.
The next step is how to get going? I know I enjoy exercising with friends, and also find it harder to miss those sessions as someone is expecting me. So to help ease myself back in, I’ll make plans to go to classes, runs or the gym with friends. It’s also social then, so that helps me too.
So I have my plan. I can do this!
Know what you want, why you want it, and what it’ll mean to you. How will you feel when you’ve achieved your goal? That’s the key. Know where you want to be, and then you can work out how you’re going to get there!
