Spring? How did I survive the end of winter?

Fed Up Of Winter? I Am!

It’s the first year I’ve really not enjoyed winter, I can’t wait for the spring and longer days … But I’ve noticed that we’re nearly there! Last night after the breeziness of Storm Gareth I was walking my dogs at 1830 and found that nature was still touting for spring, even after taking some battering for the last 24 hours and it wasn’t pitch black either!

the met office [https://www.metoffice.gov.uk/weather/learn-about/weather/seasons/spring/when-does-spring-start] says;

Depending upon which definition you use, there are actually two different dates that mark the first day of spring.

1 March 2019 is the first day of the meteorological spring 20 March 2019 is the first day of the astronomical spring

So it’s official, on Wednesday next week, which ever way you look at it, it’s spring! I’ve made it! Although I still struggled I was thinking about what I did to avoid the emotional low that went with hanging in there for spring. I had definitely taking a few measure to get myself going again!

  1. I filled my fridge (and ate) a wide selection of colourful fruit and veg to up my vitamins and minerals - eat the rainbow!
  2. I started drinking warm water with a little lemon as I realised I was avoiding drinking cold water (the lower hydration level was making me feel sluggish)
  3. I exercised more in the studio inside (I was avoiding going outside in the dark and wet so my exercise levels had dropped and I wasn’t seeing the same amount of people)

all of these things will help me at any time of year, “eat better, hydrate better, exercise better!” Amazing to think I had to remind myself about such simple things … but hey I’m human, and it worked!
